SAFE guidelines refers to ‘Screening for Heart Attack and Heart Failure Prevention and Education’ The guideline is for all healthy adults between 25-75 years and helps in deciding the preventive tests to be done based on the age of the patient and risk factors. The protocol is easy to understand and can be used by anyone. The tests are grouped according to the age and risk factors. The younger the age, the more basic the tests are. For those with risk factors, more specific need to be done. The protocol avoids unnecessary tests and guides the patient and the doctor on which parameter needs to be focused for monitoring.
